Day Seven
Well, I was in a better mood when I got up this morning. I don't know why, but I felt that things were looking up a little bit. Geri fixed my breakfast, as Don was already working at the computer, mumbling something about people not being able to read my blog. I was a little concerned about this, but I figured it was his problem; he's the IT guy in this crew, I'm just the dog. When he finished his computer work, he went to the door of the rig and looked out; then he called me. I went to the door, and there, at the foot of the stairs, was a newspaper! I scrambled down the steps, got the paper, and ran back in to receive my pay. Yeah, things are getting better. There was some talk about getting a grooming for me, and we all got in the truck and drove into Boern. I like riding in the truck, I've got a big, carpeted compartment all to myself, and a window into the cab when I need to tell the humans something. We went to a grooming place, but they were all booked up. I saw all kinds of dogs going into that place! Geri thought I might be disappointed, and she got me a bone, a really meaty good one. We went home for lunch then, and I laid down for a nap. Geri and Don were going somewhere in the truck, to a place where, for some stupid reason, they don't allow dogs. OK by me; the air was working, some good music on the radio, good napping conditions.
They came home a few hours later and told me about the museum they had been to in a place called Fredricksburg, a little higher up in the Hill Country. It was the National Museum of the Pacific War, and they had a lot of good things to say about it. I wasn't that interested, I don't really understand war, and they didn't have any displays about dogs. I was interested, though, in the BBQ dinners they brought home. They really enjoyed them, and the lickin's were great. Geri took me for a good walk after dinner, we watched TV for awhile, and went to bed.
